USA Today reported that Trump’s Independence Day speech at Mount Rushmore was delayed until after 11 p.m. Eastern Time. Trump emphasized, “Tonight we gather here to celebrate one of the most significant days in world history. Tomorrow we will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the glorious independence of the United States and the 250th anniversary of the freedom of the United States. This is truly remarkable.” He reiterated, “By the grace of God, the United States of America is the most successful, accomplished, and outstanding nation in human history, and I am incredibly honored to be your president.”
Meanwhile, South Dakota’s Republican Governor Larry Rhoden and U.S. Interior Secretary Doug Burgum also delivered speeches. In addition, Republican South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were also present at the event.
Due to weather conditions, celebrations including military band performances, air shows, salutes, and flag-raising ceremonies were postponed. However, after Trump’s speech, the Independence Day fireworks display proceeded as planned, illuminating the four presidential portraits on the hilltop and bringing the event to a successful close.
