Elon Musk’s company begins supervised Full Self-Driving rollout as China testing network rapidly grows
Tesla officially confirmed on Wednesday that its supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is now available in China, marking a major step in the company’s effort to expand advanced autonomous driving technology in one of the world’s largest electric vehicle markets.
The announcement was made through Tesla’s official account on the social media platform X. The company revealed that the supervised version of FSD has now launched in multiple regions, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, the Netherlands and Lithuania.
This is the first time Tesla has publicly confirmed the official rollout of FSD technology in China.
The move comes as Tesla increases hiring and testing efforts across several major Chinese cities. Earlier this month, Tesla China posted multiple job openings connected to intelligent driving development and testing.
the company is recruiting for positions such as Intelligent Driving Test Technician, Intelligent Driving Test Engineer and Intelligent Driving Track Test Specialist.
The jobs are linked to Tesla’s Autopilot research and development division and involve vehicle testing, regulatory analysis and coordination between engineering teams.
Tesla Expands China Autonomous Driving Network
Several job descriptions reportedly included tasks related to “accelerating fully autonomous driving,” improving “active safety features” and performing “Autopilot vehicle-level testing.”
One important responsibility listed in the positions involved tracking Chinese certification and regulatory policy changes. Analysts say this shows Tesla is working closely with Chinese authorities to meet local compliance standards.
The hiring campaign also covers major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, suggesting Tesla is rapidly expanding its testing network throughout China.
Tesla Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja discussed the company’s China strategy during the Q1 earnings call earlier this year.
Taneja said Tesla remains in close communication with Chinese regulators and hopes to receive full approval for FSD technology in China during the third quarter of this year.

Tesla Promises Local Data Compliance
Tesla executives have repeatedly emphasized that the company will follow China’s strict data security rules while expanding autonomous driving technology.
Tesla Vice President Tao Lin said earlier this year that Autopilot data generated in China would remain inside the country.
The company also confirmed it has established a local AI training center in China to support future development and deployment of self-driving systems.
Industry experts say local AI infrastructure could help Tesla improve vehicle performance using China-specific traffic conditions and driving behavior.
The launch of supervised FSD in China is considered a major milestone because Tesla has faced regulatory delays and data security concerns for years while trying to expand autonomous driving features in the country.
Competition in China’s intelligent driving market is also increasing rapidly. Domestic automakers and technology companies continue investing heavily in AI-powered driving systems and smart vehicle platforms.
Despite the competition, Tesla remains one of the most closely watched companies in the global self-driving industry.
Analysts believe the success or failure of FSD in China could significantly affect Tesla’s long-term position in the worldwide electric vehicle and autonomous driving market.
