Jordan’s Public Security Bureau issued a statement today saying that multiple gunmen opened fire during a funeral at a church in Jordan’s Karak province, killing seven people and wounding 34 others.
Jordanian state television station Al Mamlaka reported that authorities had deployed security forces to the church and were searching for the gunman involved. According to reports, gunmen got out of their vehicles and opened fire during a funeral procession at Hamoud Church in Karak province.
The station aired a video that appeared to be filmed on a monitor installed in the church. The footage shows three men firing at the church from the sidewalk, taking cover behind trees and a low wall, and then running toward the church entrance.
Reuters compared the entrance, the low walls surrounding the church and other details in the video to confirm its authenticity. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack and Jordanian officials have not said who was responsible.
