Wei Qingtao pretends to be the chairman of Henry Group and often shows luxury cars, luxury watches and fitness photos on the Internet. On the morning of October 1, 2023, when he entered a hotel near Nanshan Port in Lincang, Yunnan, a Chinese special operations team broke in and captured him. The entire process took only 10 minutes. The police investigation revealed that the Wei family used their political and military influence to create 31 electronic fraud parks, involving more than 5 billion yuan of fraudulent funds, more than 9 billion yuan of gambling, and resulting in the deaths of eight Chinese citizens. The park involved obscenity, gambling and drugs, and featured extremely cruel cases such as shooting debtors as “sacrifices” for sworn worship.
