American Artificial Intelligence (Aye ) chip industry giantHuida (Nvidia, also known as Nvidia) CEOJen-Hsun Huang Today said the warning about AI’s potential to destroy humanity is a “cheap” attempt to gain news coverage.
Agence France-Presse reported that Jen-Hsun Huang attended a conference organized by HUIDA in the German capital Berlin, the last stop of his European tour, and said: “When you say that human civilization will end, first of all, it is not true.” He bluntly said that this statement will become the subject of news, but in reality it is “fabricated” and “substandard”.
Recent incidents of AI going out of control during testing have sparked heated debate over whether it threatens human survival. A researcher at US AI developer Anthropic resigned in September and sternly warned that some major AI labs were “betting with our lives.” Later the heads of Anthropic and peer OpenAI also called for slowing the pace of development.
However, Huang Renxun advocates the development of AI at full speed. Today in Berlin he called on the world to approach AI with “responsible optimism.”
“If you care about the future, (care about the post-apocalyptic era of our personal lives), if we care about the prospects for sustainability, now is the time: build AI, not try to kill AI,” he said.
